Have you ever noticed how Word tries to be 'helpful' if you start to type a numbered list?
It takes over and changes the formatting.
The same happens if you type an email or website address - Word turns it into a blue underlined hyperlink.
If you don't like this interference from Word do this:
1. Open Word and click on Tools on the Menu bar at the top selecting Autocorrect
2. Now click on the tab entitled Autoformat as you type
3. Untick the boxes for Automatic Numbered Lists and Internet and Network paths with hyperlinks
4. Click OK - now Word should leave you alone
