Windows XP makes it really easy to email pictures
Many people nowadays are enjoying the benefits of digital photography. However, there is a growing problem in how people email photographs.
Many digital photographs can exceed 4MB for each photo. This high resolution is only necessary for high quality printing on photo paper.
When emailing photographs there are two things to consider:
1. The speed of the internet connection (both for you the sender and for the recipient)
2. The fact that most folks only wish to view photos on their computer screen
Therefore for most situations it makes sense to send the pictures at a much lower resolution (and filesize)
If you don't you can seriously annoy the recipient who may not be using broadband yet by creating an almighty log jam in the email which will stop all other emails from being downloaded until the offending email with massive attachments is removed.
Luckily Windows XP comes with a really nifty way of resizing your pictures for email. This is what you do:
1. Find the picture you wish to email (usually in My pictures)
2. RIGHT click over the file and select Send To / Mail Recipient (left click on Mail Recipient)
3. Windows will offer to make your pictures smaller (just agree by clicking OK)
4. Hey presto your email pops up ready for you to type in the email address and subject with a copy of the picture probably about one twentieth of the original file size already attached.
5. Click SEND
Tip: If you want to send more than one photo in the email hold down the Ctrl Key on your keyboard and cherry pick each file with a click.
Now RIGHT click over any of the highlighted files and go to step 3. (Don't attach more than 12 photos to one email)
