What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file sent to your computer via your web browser when you visit some websites.

Cookies store information about your visit - like where you went on the site and what you did.

What does a Cookie do?

Cookies have a variety of different functions, from remembering purchasing information or your login and password to a website - so you don't have to keep logging in with your username and password.

A cookie from a particular website is stored on the hard drive of your computer and used the next time you visit that site.

Delete your Cookies

Sometimes a cookie can become "corrupted" (stop working) which can stop a website from functioning correctly - like an account with a login.

The simplest solution (and in fact a good computer health tip) is to regularly delete your cookies.

In Internet Explorer, simply go to Tools, then Internet Options Click the Delete button and then click the Delete Cookies option.
