When SPAM is not SPAM

Many people contact us about managing so-called SPAM when actually SPAM is not the challenge being described

Just to be clear pure SPAM is email that is unsolicited – in other words it is a completely irrelevant email you have not asked for.

However if you regularly buy online or sign in to websites you may have created yourself a subscription to regular newsletters or offers.  E.g. Tesco, Ocado, Amazon, EBay, Facebook, Friends Reunited, Easykey etc…

If you do not wish to receive any of these emails it is a legal requirement for the senders to allow you to remove yourself from the mailing list.  If you are certain that the email is genuine look for a link (usually at the foot) to remove or unsubscribe yourself.  Be careful about phishing emails which usually pretend to come from a bank or financial account – Do not click anything or reply to a Phishing email - Read here about what to do with phishing scams.
